In the Book of Romans, God spoke powerful truths which are either alarming or freeing depending on one’s response to them. Paul had all the credentials that were considered to be the perfect Jew, yet they amounted to nothing when he was miraculously met by Jesus on the road to Damascus. Because of God’s grace, Paul was freed from having to prove himself and live up to the law, which was impossible. He passed on the message of God’s holiness and grace not only to Jews, but also to Gentiles, so that everyone might be free from sin and experience unity and the power of God in their lives. This understanding brings hope and promise to the one who clings to God’s grace.
